This park is not your typical woodland preserved park. This park offers everything from walking trails to waterfront walking space at nearly 85 acres long. If walking is not your cup of tea, then sit by one of the many benches overlooking the riverside. In the evening enjoy a relaxing stroll with Manhattan views and maybe take the little ones to a skating rink, basketball court, or a 1920’s merry-go-found. Now that it is summer there are plenty of activities from literary reading held in the open air to outdoor movies playing at sundown. This is the perfect summer park!
Did you know that Flushing Meadows is New York City’s second largest park? Of course, Central Park is first but this one can show you the world as well – literally! The most unique aspect of this beautiful park is the enduring icon, Unisphere. It happens to be a mammoth steel globe created for the 1964’s World’s Fair. The beautiful fields of green encompass a zoo, a skate park, a $66 million aquatic and hockey center, as well as a boating lake. With such a large park, it would take you the whole summer to explore every nook and cranny of this place.
From the visionary Calvert Vaux, this is his second best creation, Prospect Park. Guess his first? Central Park! Yup, this beautiful park was designed by the same maker as Central Park and boasts plenty of green space, a zoo, and Wollman Rink among many other beautiful spots. If you desire to walk through a bustling towering forest right next to Brooklyn, this park is sure to create summer memories.
This highly anticipated outdoor park is quite new, built in 2009. This unique elevated infrastructure is built on Manhattan’s West Side and is filled with outdoor sculptures and gorgeous garden trails to walk that change with the seasons. What makes this park so unique is that it is an elevated walkway alongside the Hudson River with a food court, ice cream, and wine. If you get to hot this summer than dip your toes in a shallow pool or relax by the lounge chairs on lazy days.
With 30 acres of open meadows, playgrounds, and designated spaces for relaxing activities and recreation, this park is a relaxing and lovely place to enjoy the simple things. With beautiful walkways and plenty of spaces to enjoy a picnic, this is a simple summer park to relax and unwind.
Enjoy your summer!
